The successful doctor will be encouraged to offer provision of imaging for a further sub- specialty. In addition, you will be required to play an active role in the general workload of the imaging departments. BDI Resourcing are seeking a motivated, dedicated and friendly international doctor for a Consultant Breast Radiology post. The successful doctor will join a cohesive team of four Consultant Radiologists and a Consultant Breast Clinician in a dedicated breast unit for symptomatic and screening services.

You will also be delivering diagnostic and Interventional Radiology services. The candidate should be competent in the full range of skills expected of a modern breast radiologist and keen to learn new techniques and develop the breast service. The team are a cohesive and friendly breast imaging team and put a great deal of effort into creating a positive work environment.

The local symptomatic service receives all new referrals directly to multi-disciplinary one-stop clinics and diagnoses approximately new breast cancers per year. The imaging team is key to this pathway, supporting our surgical colleagues with information sufficient to reassure or diagnose patients.

This role extends to incorporate the acquisition of tissue for histopathological diagnosis in the majority of cancer cases, completing disease staging and guiding decision making for the wider MDT to support patients through their treatment and ongoing post-therapy surveillance. Consultant breast radiologists are expected to contribute fully to the work of the breast unit, including participation in MDT meetings, audit, research and teaching.

Duties and Responsibilities Provide clinical care of frail elderly patients throughout their pathway, including within the Emergency Department and Acute Medical Units environment as well as within the community within the Intensive Home Support Service, working in partnership with other members of the multi-disciplinary team, and under Consultant supervision and guidance.

The will be expected to undertake full clinical duties including the daily clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and care planning of medical patients, providing immediate care to deteriorating patients, including initial resuscitation where appropriate, appropriate referrals to other relevant specialist teams where indicated, and ensuring safe discharge and follow up in due course.

The will liaise with GPs and provide expertise and work in to develop appropriate plans for patients within the Intensive Home Support Service. The post-holder may be expected to attend and manage patients in the Outpatient Clinics under Consultant supervision and guidance.

The post-holder will be expected to participate in the Division of Medicine Grand Rounds and audit meetings and will be welcome to participate in any available relevant further training and study opportunities. Duties will include: Participation in the day-to-day management and administration of the Emergency Department. Proactive patient management to achieve timely and high quality assessment and care.

The assessment, resuscitation, and safe transfer where necessary of seriously ill and injured patients, including stabilisation of patients requiring transfer to trauma centres. Care of patients on the observation unit. Referral of patients to in-patient facilities. Involvement in Emergency Medicine multi-disciplinary teams and meetings.

Participation in teaching and training for junior doctors, including involvement in their educational assessments, and education of other health care professionals.

Active involvement in quality improvement and the development of departmental services. Involvement in the 24 hour trauma and cardiac arrest team. Review of x-rays and pathology reports returned to the ED.

Provide support and input to the management of rota schedules. Independent assessment of patients in the resuscitation area, taking the lead for trauma and medical resuscitations as and when required.
