Some managers created a hostile environment. My job was a challenge. I really enjoy what I do because I was part of people learning and success. Pros Colleagues ready to support you.

Cons Bad organizational culture. Very generous with paid time off about 4 weeks of vacation a year, all major Holidays, Floating Holiday, and sick leave. They allow you time to take off for vacation because if you don't you lose it each year. Pros Paid time off, k match, coworkers. Cons Overtime, layoffs, advancement. Not to mention, expectations and policies changed continually and could be hard to keep up on. Pros Good benefits. Cons Management. Jobs at University of Phoenix.

Program Support Specialist Virtual. Program Manager Onboarding Virtual. They pay online facilitators more each year you work there. So, after a few years, they replace you with someone entering in because they can pay them less money. Pros Flexible Schedule. Cons You will be replaced, pay is mediocre. Only that I have flexibility and initiative myself. The University of Phoenix is not supportive of their faculty at all.

The atmosphere is one of threats and intimidation. Although I worked faithfully and diligently there for 17 years, I was never given an increase in wages. Pros Flexibility. Cons Poor professional relationships and supervisors. I enjoyed working at UOP. The program requirements changed and my certification no longer fit the program certification requirements. The classes were interesting. Pros Classe in person weekly.

Cons Classes were not offered consistently. Enjoyed the people and the experience it provided me to grow elsewhere. No complaints, just came to work and got a long with my coworkers well. The metrics that one is required to meet is what made the job bad along with minimal pay. Pros Vacation Time, Free Education.

Cons Everything Else. Loved the job - managers were very engaged for the most part. Became a bit micromanag-y towards the end, but UOP cares a lot for its students and employees and it shows. Pros Wfh. I liked working for University of Phoenix. I would have worked there longer if they were flexible with my school schedule. At one point, they were super flexible, I could flex my time without using vacation or sick time if I needed to do something outside of work.

That was awesome, but the company did away with that in the finance advisement department. That department also turned into a call center environment which I was not onboard with. Management was supportive of personal goals. There was not. Pros Company wants you to personally succeed.

Cons Schedules are no longer flexible. Teaching for University of Phoenix was a satisfying way of earning extra income at the same time I helped to train my future colleagues. Preparing for my courses kept me current in my field of expertise. Cons Pay is relatively low compared to how much they charge students for tuition. I love working at the University of Phoenix. However, they only call sporadically for classes so it is not an income you can depend on.

The materials are good, the website and technology are excellent and the courses are fun to teach. I just wish I taught more of them! They provide good training and support but allow teachers free reign to teach how they want.
